You know, way back when, that one kid in every small town who was envied by all his/her peers for sporting a Neo-Geo gaming console or hand-held. Well now, years later, that’s you — it’s your time to shine. Reign WindJammers champion of the town with Akop’s Neo-Geo Pocket and Pocket Colour emulator — “RACE! PSP.”

Although; truthfully, I’m not sure whether WindJammers ever made it to the Neo-Geo Pocket or Pocket Colour. Nevertheless — PSP MAME4ALL supports it.

This is Akop’s initial release ported from Flavor’s original project. It’s noted version 2.0 does not include save states; however, that is planned for the future. Good lookin’ out.

Sam 1.0 (A PSP emulator for the PC)

sam-emulator-screen.png

That’s right guys, a PSP emulator for the PC is actually in development right now, and it’s titled Sam, coded by Arctarus. However, it isn’t capable of playing ISO’s at the moment, sorry to spoil your glory. It works for pspsdk demos, but thats about it right now. Regardless, it’s what a lot of people are probably wanting, as there is no definitive emulator on the PC right now for a Playstation Portable emulator, which is actually somewhat surprising. Heck, there IS no emualtor, so it’s good news overall. If you’re willing to check out the application, download it below. As always, read the documentation before attempting installation and emulation.

If you thought Royale was done with PSP Maps, then you are very, very wrong. He put out a new release that features a couple of changes, mostly options in the experimental department. PSP Maps is essentially a ’port’ of Google and (recently) Yahoo Maps and Virtual Earth on the PSP, which typically requires a wifi connection to be able to view the maps (although it has since allowed you to view them offline once downloaded to your cache).

This new version introduces experimental and basic KML support; this allows for additional display information on maps, such as: directions, points of interest, custom markers, and more. Here is the KML support:

KML support:

  • Create a kml/ directory in your PSP-Maps folder.
  • Copy the .kml files in this directory.
  • Currently, it only supports “Points” and “Lines”.
  • If you create an .png image with the same name as your KML file, it will be used to replace the default marker.
  • You can easily create directions with this link (replace the towns in the URL): http://maps.google.com/maps?output=kml&
    saddr=toulouse&daddr=paris
